Maslow's Hierachy of Human Needs

Our next project is Creating a Budget. The first step was to create a Tree Map on Maslow's Hierachy of Human Needs. This is an example that Diana Martinez a 7th grader created to display her Goals and Decision Making.

The assignment was in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. They used Word Art for the title, the Drawing Tools for the lines, a Text Box for the words, and Clip Art for the pictures. Overall, this is a great example of Maslow's Hierachy of Human Needs.

Internet Safety for Kids

My name is Eric Brier and I am in the 6 grade at Baker Middle School. Since the beginning of school I've been learning how to type. We started with our homerow keys and now I know the entire alphabet without looking at my keys. That is because Ms. Jackson has these black covers over the entire keyboard.

We also have been learning about Internet Safety. I created a brochure on it using Microsoft Publisher. When it comes to using the Internet, never give out personal information on the Internet. If you do your life could be in danger. People can get your information if you give them your e-mail address.

During the time that I have been in my keyboarding class I have really learned many things. Typing is one and just to know where the keys are without looking is a surprise to me. I just knew that I would not be able to do it, but I did. I use the Internet often and now I know that there are people out there that are looking to do bad things to children like me. That is why I will be careful whenever I use the Internet. Internet Safety is a must!

Child Labor Issues

My name is Milton Frazier and I am also in Ms. Jackson's 7th grade Computer Application's class. We have being going over Child Labor. For our assignment, we had to create a movie or PowerPoint about Child Labor. I think Child Labor is wrong, because they treat little children wrong. They make them work in factories exposing them to harsh chemicals. Some children even have to work in mines. This is dangerous because the mine my collapse on them and they are also breathing in toxic gas. In order to create my movie I had to search the Internet for information to make my movie great.

I learned many things about Child Labor and am glad that I am able to attend school and don't have to go to work.

Interview Skills

In my 8th grade class we have been reviewing interview skills. Each student had an opportunity to go through the interview process. They didn't have to dress professional for this assignment, but they did have to answer questions, be respectful, and show interest will being interviewed.

Below is Kyra Moore being interviewed. What elements do you see she used during her interview process?

What to Do in an Interview

Hello my name is Markus Clay and like Zaquon, I attend Baker Middle School. In keyboarding, this week we have been talking about interviews. I learned that there is a right way to go on an interview and a wrong way. For example, you should give a firm hand shake and state your name. Ask the interviewer how they are doing and wait for them to say, "You may be sitted," before you sit down.

Here are some things you don't want to do at a interview.

Don't come in loud and on the phone.

Don't just say yes and no to answer the questions, go into details and be specific.

Don't wear a lot of makeup

Don't wear a lot of perfume

Some things to do at an interview:

Be respectful
Answer all questions
If you don't know the answer, let them know that
Be about 15 minutes early
Dress professional
No shoes that you would wear out to a party

These are a few things that we are going over in Ms. Jackson's class.

The Best Class Ever

Introduction
Hello, I am Zaquon Jones an 8th grader, I am in a career class at Baker Middle School, which is in Columbus, GA. The class is called Computer Applications. The class teaches how to type. We will also learn about businesses and how to create one.

Ms. Jackson's Class
These are some of the things we are doing now in Ms. Jackson's class. She has put black covers over the keyboard so we can learn how to type. This may help us for some of the jobs we might have in the future. Today our session was about the 21st Century Employment Skills, and how you should talk and dress when you go on an interview for a job.
So that's what my class was about today.

First Few Weeks of School
Previously, we learned about the Parts of the Computer. We had to draw our own computer, create a circle map, use PuzzleMaker to create a word search, and finally use PowerPoint to draw our own computer.

I will post an example of our assignments later. It is time to go home.
